Merchify Launches from Beta with HUGE Update! Keep Reading.

Our 3 Most Requested Features in 1 Update!

image

During our Beta period, users gave us terrific suggestions. Great minds must think alike.  Most of you told us very similar things.  Here’s what you asked for:

  1. Women’s Tees - This was hands down the biggest request. Unisex blanks just weren’t cutting it. You can now add designs using the American Apparel 2102, the most popular Women’s Tee that they sell.
  2. A “Value Tee” Option - Some of you wanted a more traditional shirt style and a less expensive shirt. You got it!  Now you can create shirts on the well known, classic-fit Gildan Tee. And yes ladies, our Value Tees are available in Men’s AND Women’s cuts (2000 & 5000L.)
  3. Add Multiple Colors at Once - You now can create up to 12 different colors at once! Just click to turn on/off every color swatch you want to sell. If you want to preview them, simply click the color swatch under the preview area. We’ll also create thumbnails for each color and push them all to your store.

Last but not least, we lowered our prices on American Apparel tees!  White Tees now start at $16 instead of $19! Color American Apparel tees are cheaper too! Hey, we did tell prices were subject to change. Every once in a while, that’s a good thing!  Existing Merchify users can check out the newest features here.

Don’t have Merchify yet? No problem, it’s free for all Shopify users to install.  Not yet a Shopify user?  Get a free 14-day trial here. It’s the easiest way in the world to start selling made-on-demand products from your very own online store.

Top 5 Tips - Merchifying Like a Pro

Merchify™ differs from most Shopify apps for a very simple reason.  When used, a physical product gets made and shipped.  When you think about it, that is a very powerful capability. Your artwork turns into actual goods whenever an order is placed. Merchify makes this so simple it’s almost easy to forget that designing cool merch is itself often quite hard.

We get it.

So we’ve put together our Top Five recommended practices when creating your artwork.

Heard of Henri, the Existentialist cat? He’s only the biggest French export since Freedom Fries. When filmmaker Will Braden created a short film about his cat, he never imagined he was launching a viral video star.  But with “Paw De Deux,” Will spawned millions of Youtube views and profiles in Huffington Post, Gawker, MSN and more.

Internet fame brought Will, er, that is, Henri, thousands of Facebook fans.  And they all wanted to know one thing.

Where can I buy Henri, Le Chat Noir Merchandise?

Henri Le Shirt NoirSo Will did what any reasonable person in his position would do.  He contacted Amplifier®. After all, we’ve helped some of the Internet’s biggest viral phenomena to sell original swag to their fans.  Once Will explained his success, we gave him early access to Merchify™ and a star was born!  He went from “absolute novice” to selling thousands of dollars of merch in only a week! And the orders just keep on coming!

UPDATE: And Will Braden’s success just keeps on coming. Just last month, Will and Henri beat thousands of others to take Grand Prize at the First Annual Internet Cat Video Film Festival.

Félicitations Henri and Will!

Customer Profile: Found Footage Festival

Billed as “a one-of-a-kind event that showcases footage from videos found at garage sales, thrift stores, warehouses and dumpsters”, the Found Footage Festival has elevated countless figures from imminent obscurity to genuine Internet celebrity.

If you’ve ever heard of Jack“World’s Angriest RV Salesman” Rebney then you’re familiar with their work.  Festival founder Nick Prueher describes the video that went on to make Rebney a Youtube phenomena:

It’s the outtakes from this industrial film about Winnebago RVs. The host [Rebney] kept getting mad and taking it out on the crew. So the crew left the cameras rolling to capture this guy’s tirades and how ridiculous he was being. We met somebody who was on the crew of this shoot in 1989, and he gave us footage. We cut it together into like four minutes of just his most ridiculous swearing tirades. Understandably it became sort of the breakout hit of the show.

A profanity strewn series of cutting-room floor excerpts went viral and made Jack Rebney a cult celebrity.  He even went on to become the subject of a 2007 documentary (“Winnebago Man.”)  Countless other men’s trash have become Found Footage’s treasure.

  • “It Only Takes a Second” - You’ve Heard of Accidents Waiting to Happen?
  • “Arnold in Rio” - Hilarious promotion video of Schwarzenegger in Rio’s Carnival.
  • Harvey Sid Fisher’s Astrology Songs.
  • New York Public Access TV’s “Stairway to Stardom” (The Original American Idol)

Found Footage Finds Merchify

Found Footage sells DVDs, Tickets and other cool stuff from their online store.  But new merchandise means tying cash up in new inventory. What if you produce 250 shirts of a design that no one likes?

That’s where Merchify comes in. Using our easy to install Shopify application, Found Footage Festival could offer hundreds of clever new Posters, T-Shirts, Coffee Mugs and more without ever holding inventory.  Merchify products sell right alongside all their traditional products.  The only difference is, whenever they receive Merchify orders, Found Footage Festival’s team doesn’t have to produce, pick, pack or ship them.  Amplifier handles that stuff, allowing Found Footage to simply pocket the difference.

Do yourself a kindness and check out FFF’s awesome online store.

Merchify… As Easy as Updating Your Facebook Status

“Merchify has made the shirt making process as easy as updating your Facebook status.”

Ajay Mantri is a part of the team at Shopify store Brooks and Kinney. Ajay also was one of Merchify’s earliest beta testers.  Ajay helped us identify a transparency-related issue that we’ve since resolved.  We asked him to give us feedback on his experience using Merchify to sell on-demand goods from their store. He gave us some great answers and even a few “needs improvement.”

We present our questions and Ajay’s answers, unvarnished.

How did you first hear about Merchify?
I first found out about Merchify in the Beta section on the Shopify App Store. I check it out from time to time for services that may be a good asset to our operations. Merchify instantly caught my eye because I have always wanted to make my own shirts but never had the investment capital to support an MOQ or infrastructure to manage fulfillment. The ability to print and fulfill on demand without inventory made Merchify an instant no brainer for us.
